Egg Benedict Breakfast

Looks like weekend breakfast would be a regular post in the Midnight blog from now onwards! And on this weekend's breakfast menu is Egg Benedict! The very first Egg Benedict that I tried was just slightly over 6 months ago at 1-Caramel when the Woman's Weekly magazine had a 1-for-1 promotion on its breakfast. A set of Egg Benedict breakfast cost about S$15! But it came with Parma ham and the loveliest Hollandaise sauce I've ever tasted! Ever since then, my hubby has been trying to make Egg Benedict for me for breakfast. The picture above is the attempt number 2 or 3 from him.

And here is the picture of my very first Egg Benedict I made myself! Ladies and gentlemen, my very first poached egg! I'm so proud now I feel tears swelling in my eyes! Hahaha. For those who want to try this, cooking instructions attached :)

Cooking Instruction:
1. Bring 2 to 3 inches of water to a slow simmer (means small bubble coming out, but not overly boiling) in a shallow pan.
2. Add 1 tablespoon of vinegar (not mandatory, but it helps somehow)
3. Break an egg into a shallow cup or bowl, and slowly slide the egg into the pan.
4. Cooked between 5 - 10 minutes, and drain the egg dry.
5. On a piece of rye bread, place a slice of parma ham or smoke salmon, top with one poached egg, and cover with hollandaise sauce (you can buy them ready made from Master Food, click here.

Invitation to Dream - A Fire Garden Installation

Singapore Art Festival kicked off on 14th May Fryday with the Singapore City up in flame! An Invitation to Dream - A Fire Garden Installation, practically put the city back into a medieval era! Haunting, mysterious, and awfully awesome! I wish I've brought my cloak and walked down the Esplanade Park with my hood on! It was so cool!

If you're interested, today is the last day of the Fire Garden Installation that starts at 6:30pm. Start from the Empress Place, and visit the Treasury of the World: Jewelled Arts of India in the Age of the Mughals at the Asian Civilisations Museum around 7pm to get a coupon to exchange for a free ice cream!(Entrance to the museum is free for this 3 days from 5pm onwards)

When you come out from the museum, the whole place would have been transformed into a witch-hunt/track-down-this-murderer-he-must-be-found kinda atmosphere. Make your way slowly through the Esplanade Park to enjoy more flame and some haunting music as per shown in the next photo. Great guitar playing, very gypsy like! I really felt like I was walking in a dream-like planet. Vision of Mirror Mask, Esmeralda and even Mina came into mind, a camp fire war like scene.... I was utterly exhilarated!

Make your way across to the esplanade and if you're lucky, stop by the Coca-Cola tent to grab a free Coke! And if you still have the strength, you can walk all the way to the Helix Bridge, cross into the Marina Sand Bay, and relax with a cup of ice coffee at Coffee Bean at the basement!

My 3rd post in less then 24 hours! I wish today could last forever!

Sunday Breakfast

Good morning Mr Sunday! My favorite meal of the week -> Sunday breakfast! Especially when there are eggs involved! And no matter what the health expert says, white bread taste wonderful toasted! And butter is pure heaven! Best part is, nothing has to die to feed me! And I'm feeling at peace with myself with such a wonderful breakfast laid out before me, and Offspring blasting on my speaker :)

On the menu today, scramble eggs (with milk), toast bread with jam and butter, fruits consisting of pineapple and watermelon, and washing it down with Chamomile tea.

Good morning world!

PinkDotSG 2010

Took part in Pink Dot Singapore 2010 today at Hong Lim Park! It was the pinkest event I've ever taken part in! It was actually quite fun and very crowded! Heard around 4,000 people turned up this year. I reached around 5:30pm even though the event started at 5pm, so missed out on the Voguelicious dance :( You can check them out at the ref link below.

The idea of PinkDot was to gather enough people wearing pink to form a gigantic human dot. Here's a photo of the person directing everyone to form shapes only he could see :P At ground level, all I could see was a sea of people, and lots of armpits as most people were carrying pink umbrellas! But I trust the director knew what he was doing, and indeed, there is a photo of a (more or less) pink dot at their official blog! And I'm IN IT! Woohoo!

Here are some shots of the ambassador of PinkDot 2010, Adrian Pang and Tan Kheng Hua. DJ Big Kid was also one of the ambassador, but since we've never heard of him, sorry, no photos! Lim Yu-Beng was also there, but somehow no one took his photo! Aiya! Wasted!

And this guy here, although was not formally introduced to the crowd, looked suspiciously like Ivan Heng. Boy does he look different from the days of Emily on Emerald Hill!

The event lasted till 6:30pm, with performances to entertain the crowd. Last but not least, here's one going out to the Singapore Humanist Group! And of yeah, DJ Big Kid is in one of the photo among the crowd :P

Intertidal Walk@ Pulau Hantu

1st May 2010, my first intertidal walk. Location, Pulau Hantu Singapore. To get there, a charted boat ride from Marina South Pier. Organizer, Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR). Here are some of the beautiful moments captured by camera of my trip there with my friends. I'll write more in details when I have more time to sort out the photos :P

Enjoy!
