Post Card from Paris

Making a detour to Paris was the best thing that happened on my trip to London in 2010. It was easily the most beautiful city to visit (although the smell of urine was almost everywhere!). The people were surprisingly very friendly to us, and except for restaurant food, I found Paris to be rather cheap as compared to London!

To Paris with Love. I would LOVE to go back there again! Hopefully with more cash to spend this time!

Post Card from London

Finally, my blog entry for my trip in 2010 is completed. My last words on London: Not the safest feeling place to visit, with not the best food, but the people are rather good nature, and it is full of history and has all the things I read about when I was a kid. If only I could have visited a forest with a Faraway Tree, my trip would be perfect! Will I go back? Maybe.

London Food Information - Part 2

Although I didn't like the food at London, I did like the food market atmosphere! Here are 3 notable one which I like. First Covent Garden. I think I went there twice. Covent Garden is one of the oldest market in London, and most famous for this scene in My Fair Lady. The Paella there is cheap and good! I also like the Square Pie shop there.

2nd is Borough Market which I think we went twice as well. I fell in love with perry there. Lots of cheese there.Very interesting place to wonder around.

3rd is Portobella Market at Nottinghill. Had my first Falafel and Churros there!

London Food Information - Part 1

As always, first few days of the trip is an adjustment to the exchange rate. We're talking about twice the price of SGD here since we're surviving on pounds in London. Thankfully the following things are really cheap at their supermarket: ham (1 pound for 10 slice!), cheese (1 pound each for assorted cheese), bread (1 pound), and milk (less than a pound). I love the Mark and Spencer there as well as they have prepacked salad which are just amazing! And soup from Sainsbury! They open till 11pm!
During our land tour, we also had lunch at a traditional English pub where I ordered my first cow liver in mash. The pub's name was called Queen's Head somewhere at Stow-on-the-Wold.
One of the place that I would really like to go back to is Sally Lunn's at Bath. We were in such a rush when we were there that we didn't manage to finish our lunch and had to pack it to go. I even left my postcards there :(
We did try a few eating places in London, but I can't say I like the food in London much. Here's some pix of the kebab we had near where we stayed, and some underground cellar near Chinatown. I'll share more about London market food in Part 2.

TOL - Shadows

19-Nov(Friday). Favorite type of photograph? Lights and shadows. Here are some taken inside the Tower of London that gives you a feel of the medieval times :) Kinda reminds me of all the haunting documentary that I love so much. Unfortunately, nothing supernatural turned up in my photos even though it was shot in one of the hunting place in London. To start off, a clip on the ghost stories of the place... I'm kinda glad I did no research before visiting this place! Now I'm tempted to google ghost of Le Catacomb.....

Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium

Visited the Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium (minus the Aquarium since it wasn't open yet) today (20-May-2012). Had a free entrance ticket worth SGD5, so it wasn't that bad. I even paid SGD3 for a ticket to the Typhoon Theater (usual price SGD6, but since I have a membership card, there was a 50% discount). Anyway, verdict was, the theater was really not worth it, and the museum was just erm, ok. For a free entrance, I'm not complaining! I actually enjoyed the Malaysian Street Food more. But anyway, I did get some cool photos using my phone! So here are some cool pix to share. I'm so lazy to write these days that I'm just gonna let the photos do the talking.

All the below are taken inside the museum, but mostly at the museum shop.....still, beauty is beauty, at least to the eye of the beholder :P

Handmade Lunch Box Carrier 2

After making my first Lunch Box Carrier, I realized that one wasn't enough, especially when I don't do my miscellaneous laundry weekly. So I decided to make another one just like it, but with just a slight variation. So here is lunch box carrier #2.

It's still about teddy bears and ginger bread-man. And this time, I made it minty green, with a bright striped orange interior. The end product is as per shown below.

Handmade Card Holder

Don't it look sweet? My personal handmade card holder. I just love the colour and of course the feel of it! It's made same as the book-cover method , but this is smaller and cuter and so sweet! I got the plastic card cover from Kinokuniya for like SGD1.80! It was rather expensive, but I couldn't find the type I want at Popular Bookstore, so no choice. But after making these, I just love it. Front side is a ribbon, and back side is the "Hand made" sign. Inside there is also a small rose to add a personal touch to it. I bring it everywhere I go and use it to hold all my discount cards and coupons!

Handmade Key Pouch

Here's a little something I made the other weekend, and I even planned and wrote it down in my pretty little book with my awesome pen. Yes, we're making a key pouch today. And I have these adorable little keys I got from Chinatown the last time I was there.

Anyway, here is the front and back view of the end product. It's tied with a string cause I kinda forgot to sew in the rubber piece that was suppose to go round the front flower button. I lost the string after one week, but I'm still using the key pouch and love the feel of it! The more I use it, the more cotton-ny it feels! And check out the back view of it with the little "Hand made" sign at the bottom right. I love it! Gonna sew that on all the small neat things I made! In fact, I got 24 pieces of it just last week when I went down to Chinatown again. They help add a personal touch to the things I made :)
Here's the inside view. A little angel helps watch over my keys, a guardian of sort to the entrance of my home. And inside, the little key, and the key holder. I made the inside minty green cause 2012 is minty green year for me! Just like 2011 was a pink year! I really love the feel of the pouch! Hope you like it too and make one for yourself. Cheers!
