Art Pier was a place that always shows up when you google KaohSiung places of interest. I was very curious about the place. Even before reaching it, the field outside was already filled with art installation. There was a giant copper structure littered all over the field! Whimsical!
Walking further in, I finally saw the pink fat man!
And of course, the pink fat lady!
Welcome to Art Pier. What used to be a port, warehouse area, has now been transformed into an art display area. With shops and trendy cafe and beautiful view of the city. It was late morning on a Saturday, hot and less crowded. Just the way I like it!
One should walk slowly here. Every twist and turn is something to look at. Include up and down!
I especially like those art pieces that are hiding something functional, like an air vent etc.
There were also lots of murals to be found. Like this 3D mural that the ladies are taking photo with.
Or less organised mural all over the back lane of a shop/warehouse.
Some on the side of shops, like this cute neko here.
And some part of the place just looks like a giant baby has left all their toys just scattered around the place.
Here's a lego the baby was playing with. And I just realised that is the rainbow crossroad! For LGBTQ+. I saw one in Ximending as well. Taiwan is LGBTQ+ friendly, in case you didn't know...
Lastly, I especially like more subtle art display, like these aircons on the roof. Or the dragon with the no-entry sign :) I love the dragon.
