Beijing 2024 - Hutong Hotel Stay Part 2

Taking some time to show you around our hotel. Above is the courtyard just outside our room. I felt so fancy staying here! It looked nice, but actually when a big family comes and stay, you could hear them from your room if they are talking and eating outside the courtyard, which was what happened sometimes. Chinese families ordering their delivery food to the hotel and eating it here was I guess, cheaper than dining in a fancy restaurant. I've pretty much done that myself :P

The lovely wood deco at the 'lobby'. I would love working in a place like this! And probably imagining everyday that this was my house! It would feel like I'm living in some ancient time too!

A nice big pot with lotus growing out of it. What a lovely touch.

Inside the room, it was so modern, yet old. I forgot to take the picture of the ceiling, it was supported by wooden pillars and looked so damn cool. Anyway, the bed is next to the window which looked out into the courtyard. Next to it is an elevated seating area with tatami mat. You could sit and enjoy your tea and snacks here. I love that corner!

Here is a closed up look of the tea corner. An electric kettle is provided for you to make tea. It felt so Japanese!

At the other end of the room is where the toilet is. Here is what it looked like inside, there is a separate shower room next to the sink too. I love how Chinese the whole toilet looked, yet with modern amenities. Things here are so high tech that we didn't know how to switch on the lights as there weren't any switch inside the toilet. Apparently the switches are like touch screen, and they are activated from the mirrors! How cool is that! We had to seek help from the staff before being able to shower our first time, lol.

I've always wanted to have a sink like this, the stopper inside the sink, with motif of gold fishes. What a lovely elegant touch to the whole bathroom :)
