So first store I went to is Don Don Donki! There was one just near where I stayed, and it has 3 storeys! I was gonna check out the prices and goods there and see what I can carry back with me to Penang!
Donki was at Lot10 itself, and just at the entrance there was the iconic baked sweet potatoes, and wagyu skewers! The skeweres was so expensive (for me at least), but there was a long queue of people waiting to purchase it. Who says Malaysians are not rich??? Well, I'm not anyway. The skewers was beyond my budget!
I'm in love with baths and bath salt. I was shocked to see bath salt selling so cheaply here! Perhaps more Malaysians have bath tubs in their home? Needless to say, I loaded up on the bath salts. I was going to be spending a night at a posh hotel, so surely I'll be able to use at least two packets of these heavenly salt!
The Donki here also seems to carry a lot of goodie bags for sale, grouping cute items all together in a bag and selling it together. Hope come we don't have this in Singapore??? Everything looks tempting to me, and I don't even know what these are!
I saw these yuzu miso, and I've been searching for them in Singapore too. No luck. How come they have these in KL??? But the price of it was heart breaking. Who would buy miso for 27rm a small pack? You could eat a complete set meal for less in a restaurant in Malaysia! So as much as I would love to, I didn't buy any of these.
Coco curry ready to cook cubes???? Why are these not found in Singapore Donki too???? Kudos to the purchaser of Malaysian Donki, you guys did your research well! But one thing sad about Donki in KL, the Non-Halal corner is super small, and not much stuff. Specifically, the alcohol range here was rather nerve wracking for me. I did not expect that. So in a way, my KL trip was going to be pretty sobering.....haha.
Ramune sweets too??? 懐 なつ かしい (Natsukashii! - Nostalgic).
After finish browsing Donki, I made my way back to the hotel, and decided to stroll along Jalan Alor. The lights and buzz of the place was hard to miss. It was a famous street food, and I don't recall ever having eaten here before. I guess I don't really eat at cheesy touristy places.
But the walk was rather relaxing, except for the occasional cars that decided to drive along the already packed road. There was a slight drizzle, so it was still manageable.
Saw a guy roasting a whole lamb at a stall. Amazing! I thought I would only see this during Ramadan.
The lamb looked really good too!
It was a pleasant stroll, and I ended up purchasing some sugar cane water for an extortion price from a vendor. The food here looks fun, but it wasn't local, and it didn't look cheap. I saw a lot of foreign food mostly. Maybe all the foreigners here can't tell the difference. Everything here is south east asian food! And cheap for them too! Whatever, I'm not dining here!
Here are some stuff I got from Donki, on my very first night too! Above is kinako mochi, but in Xmas packaging! I know I know, waste of money. But these are the mochi Daniel-san recommended when I was in Hokkaido last time, and they reminded me of him, so I bought some :)
When available, variety tea package is also my weak point. I got these box from Donki too, and started drinking them on the night itself. See, when you're travelling, you should eat and drink whatever you like, instead of buying them and bringing them home. It's a lot fresher, nicer, and lighter on your luggage!
Above is the haul. I also got bath salt, and some discounted cheese cake which supplied me with a few days of breakfast! And a Custard Bun cause I love these, and every time I eat them, they reminded me of a Japanese series I love where the Dr was addicted to these custard buns.
So ends the first day of my KL trip, more like half a day if you minus off all those travelling. After a nice bath, I settle down to enjoy my custard bun and tea. I don't have problem drinking caffeine and sleeping. I don't even believe in Caffeine. But apparently, my high blood pressure reading believes in caffeine. I've been barred from drinking caffeine before my regular blood donation session.....
Oh well, that's all for today. Good night!
