This will be the large post on National War Museum of Scotland, and it will all be about war posters! I love love love these. I basically love retro poster, whether it's about war, or advertisements, or travel etc. I just love the art work that does into it, and my blog is always filled with them whenever I have a chance to post them.
There were so many recruitment poster! Let's start with a black and white one, recruitment of Guards! Like Guards! Guards! from the Terry Pratchett books! Lol. I know this museum is about war, but I can only relate them to the books I read. And thank's to Terry Pratchett, I realised that I have no problem understanding Scottish English cause I've been reading them in his books!
The recruitment were carried out in different cities around Scotland. So this one is for Dundee. There were so many more beautiful places in Scotland I wish to visit. As long as I have the energy and funds to visit, I think I would most likely go back again and again.
Recruitment was for land and sea! Join the navy! To see the world! We need young men!
Highlanders recruitments. I guess Aryglle and Sutherland is part of Highlands?
I like that the uniform includes kilts.
There were also more British looking posters too. Is it not weird that I see and remember these more in Scotland than I do in England? Did I do England wrong on my first trip there? Should I consider visiting London again? Na. I doubt it. Except for the Natural History Museum, I find London rather boring.
More highlander poster! They have this thing called the Highlander Games, which I thought was pretty erm, old fashion? And recently I also learnt about the fire festival of Shetland, even more to the north than Orkney! Is like, Scotland has such ancient basic roots! For some reason, I find these more interesting than the posh long heritage of the British, lol. I prefer more raw energy!
Here is a poster with Edinburgh Castle in it, showing Scots and British army....
And to end this post, here is something more personal, a poster recruitment too Singapore! I wonder who is Willie. I guess it must be tempting to join the arm and get sent to the other side of the world! I know I would be interested! Places where it's always warm, with mosquitoes and malaria! Hahahaha. Hmmm, no wonder we have bagpipes in some of our school bands, especially the missionary boys' schools.
