Still at the lower ground of the castle, there is also a corner at the back called the Prisons of War. This was were they used to kept the prisoners at. So of course we needed to go visit there!
Upon entry, there was a drawing of Edinburgh Castle in the old days.
There was also a hall filled with information about life in prison long time ago, mainly on the living condition, the hygiene and the food served. I think there was a warning to children before entering the prison, but personally I didn't think anything was really scary about it. It was kinda dim, with uneven ground. But you're already inside the castle, everywhere it's practically uneven grounds!
Frankly I thought the prison was kinda relaxing and luxurious as compared to asian prison. There were hammock as bed, tables and chairs, blankets? Granted that these weren't criminal prison but prison of war. Maybe that was why? But if you've visited the Hanoi Hilton in Vietnam, I think you would agree that prison in Scotland is a lot more humane.
Hammock beds and table corner.
Halls of hammock beds. It was pretty spacious! Almost like a dormitary!
