Here are some of the very first few shots I took with my Nikon D5000.
Just your everyday stuff one can find in my home. I truly adore monochrome photos. They are just so timeless, and have this classic attributes about them. And they really goes very well with jazz, blues, R&B, and any depressing songs :P

Two thumbs up. Hope to see more.
ReplyDeleteSweet Little Piggy.
Nice photo
ReplyDeleteThanks. Any photography tips to offer me?
ReplyDeleteI find monochrom pic with contrast usually looks more catchy. Those with a bit of "lighting and shadow effect" look nicer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips! Will try to do better next time! Still haven't got used to the settings on the cam yet :(
ReplyDeleteHmm. Seems like you got an innate touch to catch light contrasts. That's good, vital in b/w photography. In colour, you can rely on contrasty colours to "pop" a picture, but greyscale has to rely on strong intensities to get the photo to pop.
ReplyDeleteThe mirror shot, you should have just flipped it in photoshop lar. Make us start guessing. :P
The one that didn't work is the remote/ watch. What's the focus? It's all bland. If you're trying to get a reflection thing going, composition is off -- I think would be better if you shot the watch at a downward angle, with the table filling most of the shot, and the watch somewhat in the center with its reflection there.
Oh yah, the last one didn't work either. Who go and put her in the pic?
*ducks*
Actually it's good. You got a good sun from the right, so it set up a good gradient across the skin. The skewed lines behind draws attention to the person, which emphasizes the subject. As I said in the other post, you seem to have a good eye for pictures -- time to polish that up! :D
Those shots are taken on the first two day of owning a new camera, so must admit, lousy technic, no focus and first time taking black and white photo. Realize, NOT EASY SIA! Cause lighting damn hard to control, and you can't anyhow ask the sun, "can shine brighter or not!", "lower the angle a bit can or not!" etc.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo and last photo is just for documentation telling you, this is the camera I use, and this is the person who shot those lousy photos :P You know? Like in a photo exhibition they show a mug shot of the photographer? Make it look professional ma :P
