Korea 2024 - Gyeong-Ju Breakfast and Bomun Lake

Next morning, I got a better view of the resort, which was called Kensington Resort. They have glamping facilities on the group too, how cool. Our hotel room actually was a small apartment, with separate bedroom, living room and kitchen. It even has a balcony which I love. I love opening up the balcony door to let the morning cold air in. It reminded me very much of my service apartment in Sao Paulo.

As it was a full resort, breakfast was included in our room price. It was buffet style. At this point in time, I was already cutting out carbo from my meals, even though I still love my rice very much. For breakfast, I mainly load up on eggs. I love trying all the different Korean side dishes available. And I always eat a few packets of seaweed and even bring some to take away with me cause I could never convince myself to buy these on my own. I was so glad I tried as many side dishes as I could in all the hotels that provided breakfast, cause when I saw the prices per serving at the supermarket, I was dumbstruck! So expensive! I really got my money worth at those hotel breakfast! I especially love the fermented cuttlefish or squid dish. I love it so much, I just ate a pack I brought back from Korea as I am blogging this! Now I'm regretting I only got one packet and it's gone.....sigh.

After breakfast, our bus came and picked us up to go to Bomun Lake for some cherry blossom viewing.

The lake was rather huge, with some hotel resorts located around it.

Across the lake, there are some traditional houses as well, and they looked so stuck in time with the cherry blossom all around them. What a nice moment in time.

There was also a structure of a lotus bud in the middle of the lake, which looked so elegant. I guess Gyeong-Ju being a Buddhist sacred city, was filled with Buddhist symbols everywhere.

Here is a closed up look.... There is also a flying horse symbol behind. I think this was the royal sign of the Shilla Empire long time ago....

Saw some birds on the cherry blossom tree and took some photos as well as video of it. That was when I realised that these small hummingbird were actually pollinating the flowers! They were small enough to put their beaks inside each flower to suck the nectar out, while at the same time helping to pollinate the flowers. How cool is that!

Our teacher insisted on group photos with the cherry blossom, so here are some. Above in the middle of the park.

And one beside the lake, but still surrounded by cherry blossom. We have a very professional photographer in our group who does all the group photos for us, but she is never inside any of our photos....
