After dinner, we some of us decided to take a slow walk back to the hotel. It was maybe a 45mins to an hour walk. But it was quite cooling, so we didn't minded. Plus there was a lot of sights to see. Like the structures above. I've seen them before on my 1st and 2nd visit to Korea long time back, and it does brings back memories of my trip then.
Here is another notable structure in the middle of the city. I recall my 2nd trip here with my husband, we practically just walked everywhere around town! Hardly even taking any train. It was a short winter trip. It could have been my very first time seeing snow too! You can read about it in my earlier blog entries.
Some nice lighting art projected on the streets were pretty cute.
And the ancient gates that still exist in the city. Although it was a nice walk, when we ventured down into the underpass, we saw many homeless people sleeping there and setting up their cardboard houses there. They didn't really bother anyone, but still, it was a gloomy sight to see.
We stopped by Seoul Station where there is a giant Lotte Supermarket that opens till late. Time for some shopping and browsing! The supermarket was filled with tourist! All busy chucking all the snacks and tit-bits into their luggage! I am always amazed at how people buy souvenirs in bulks. I could never do that. I'm always too lazy to bring anything home :P
I did enjoyed checking out the prices of the ready-made side dishes that were available. We actually bought a few back for our breakfast the next day :) Although we were staying in a hotel, we've only paid for two days of breakfast so that we also got the chance to go out and eat.
So many varieties! What I'd have liked was being able to stay in a small apartment for maybe a few months, so that I get a chance to buy all these to eat at home. I would love doing that here, in Japan, in Italy, even in Australia! I love going to markets and supermarkets and just be amazed at their fresh produce. The things that I could cook up with all these, would be such a taste adventure!
The damage for stopping at the supermarket. I got two boxes of Kanu coffee, one vanilla, one matcha. They were surprisingly nice and smooth! I also got rice.... cause I love rice.... I got some cheaper version of the side dishes. I just at the fermented squid roe this week with rice. It was so delicious I wished I've gotten more packs1 I also got some chocolates and honey chips to snack on. It was a super fruitful trip! After that, we walked all the way back late at night! It wasn't a very pleasant walk, but that's city life for you.....
