Luckily my Dearest Tour Guide KC also planned a waterfall visit as part of our day 1 itinerary, else I think I would have been very bored with just window shopping! For the last stop of Day 1, we went to Seodaemon Hongje Waterfall! And it was such a nice surprise to find a whole waterfall in the middle of Seoul!
Above is the view that greeted us as we walked in from the road. It looked almost like an artificial stage! And everyone was just sitting down enjoying the show with a cup of coffee. For some reason, everyone is always drinking something in a cafe in South Korea. The cafe culture here is super strong! Anyway, some of the group decided to sit and enjoy some coffee while admiring the view, while others went around exploring the area. I was part of the one that ran around exploring :)
You could walk all the way to the shore part of the waterfall. Along the way, there are also running and cycling track. We could see some tik-tokers filming there as well. The tik-tok phenomenon is nothing compared to China! But this trip was before I went to Beijing, so I was still captivated by them. They seem oblivious to the people around them.
There were some stone steps further along the stream that allowed one to cross the stream to the other side. There are actually some uphill path which you can hike up. And at the every top was a flower garden! Very pretty. There were cherry blossoms all around the hill, but although it was Spring time, it wasn't their time to bloom yet, which was a shame. It would have been so lovely if we could have seen everything in full bloom here!
I also saw some seats placed at the very front of the waterfall. I thought that was so cool! And wonder why there wasn't more people sitting there. Was there a special fee for it? If time was not a constraint, I would love to be one half of that couple in the photo, just sitting there together admiring the waterfall. I think that is such a wonderful romantic date spot!
Here is me and my dearest tour guide KC in front of the waterfall. The photo was taken at the veranda where people were having their coffee. I thought this was a nice shot!
After spending some time running around the hill, the stream, and along the waterfall, the sun was more or less setting, so we went off in search of dinner. I really really wanted to eat something Korean, and was glad we found a nice local restaurant nearby. First thing we ordered was Makgeolli! A type of rice alcohol. It was slightly fizzy, and super delicious to drink in a group. Perhaps it was my first makgeolli of the trip, cause I felt this was the best one I had in this trip.
In Korea, I love how every meals comes with an array of small dishes. And the side dishes are usually vegetable, or pickled, or fermented. So tasty! And the variety makes meal time such an event to look forward to!
I ordered the soondubu, a spicy soft tofu soup which I can practically eat daily! They serve it as one large pot for 4 person to share together. I didn't mind. As most ladies eat quite little, I often end up getting more food when it comes to sharing! And this was a great start to my Korea food trip!
After dinner, we took a bus back to our hotel. Above is a Miffy soft toy that hung on the bag of my friend's daughter's bag. I find it rather cute and kept playing with it. It's amazing the soft toy can still stay white by the end of the trip! And since my husband saw that I like it so much, he actually got me a cute Miffy key chain at the end of the trip :) I hang that on my self-sewed origami bag :)
