Beijing 2024 - National Museum of China (中国国家博物馆) Main

Security was tight to visit this museum. On the website and info page it says no food and drinks allowed, so I actually didn't pack us any lunch here. But later I saw so many people brought their own food in and eat! I did have to take a sip of my water to show that it was safe as we went through security.

There are two wings to the museum. We started at the North Wing, and each Wing has 4 storeys. Each storey actually have multiple exhibition hall. The entrance ticket does not include special exhibition which is paid separately and needs separate reservation as well. So yeah, we did missed out one of the cool exhibition which I will show you later along the way. The museum was so huge that by the time we finished the North Wing and had lunch, we were only left 3 hours before closing to complete the South Wing! Needless to say, I don't think we covered everything :(   I think we might have done so if we got the earlier ticket which started at 9am. Our ticket was from 11am entry.

Focusing on what we did managed to cover, we shall now start from the North Wing ground floor. My husband thinks the whole place was super propaganda, and I do agree but I don't see anything wrong in having National Pride. So basically the ground floor was dedicated to China and her achievements. I found out later that there were even more China related exhibition in the South Wing, and it was sad I had to rush through those in the second half of the day.

Aerospace achievement was proudly displayed here. Guess not every nation can send a rocket up into space. China has many! The last time I saw such a display was at the Nagoya Science Museum showcasing Japan's Aerospace achievements.

I was also excited to see an Ice Breaker among the exhibit here. Again, the first Ice Breaker ship I saw was also in Nagoya! And for some reason, I learned more about it in Japanese than I did in Mandarin here! Lol. I find that oddly amusing really. But I did love that China named their Ice Breaker 'Snow Dragon'.  And they have Snow Dragon 1 and Snow Dragon 2! It is such an auspicious name!

Entering the center hall of the ground floor, it was a hall solely dedicated to the China's Communist Party and the formation of modern China. The more detailed history of how they took over to form China and the story of MaoZeDong could be found in more detail at the South Wing.

All the famous figures that was part of China. Sadly I only recognised a few. I wasn't very well read in China's modern history. Even China's ancient history was quite a pain to remember cause the country just had such a very very very long history!

In the great hall, media display on repeat of the forming of The People's Republic of China.

Official seals. I am fascinated by the power of seals too. It is amazing that such a simple thing can hold so much power. Even in modern times, even when I was working in a Japanese bank, we all have our own individual seal. I didn't like it that it was in English though, lol.
