Beijing 2024 - Supper at Dashilan (大栅栏) Area

After dinner, we took the train back to where we stayed. The train system is similar to Singapore, so it was easy for us to navigate. Even the station looked kinda like those newer stations at home. I wonder who copied who. I like the art at the station, so I  took some photo as we made our way home.

Since it was still early, we decided to walk back to the 'food street' area to see if anything was open. With the rain, there were a lot less people on the street, which was great for me! Red lanterns and reflective walking streets make a good photo!

We were back at the first stall we went to on our first day here. I guess I was curious about the dish called 'Exploding Stomach' and wanted to try it. Since our dinner was just one fish dish, I figure I still have the storage to try another dish before calling it a day.

So here are the food we got from the stall. Some BBQ meat. Who would have thought that if you order it as takeway they came in such pretty packaging!

The 4 beauties of China! Used for paper carrier for meat skewer. Those were my husband's supper.

And this was mine! Exploding stomach was basically beef stomach (I think), covered in lots of different sauces and so much vegetables below too! I asked for all the sauces, and spicy too since my husband didn't really fancy this dish.

Oh man, I love this dish. The vegetable was surprisingly crunchy and juicy and delicious! Totally met my fibre intact for the day. And the sauce, especially the peanut sauce, goes so well with everything! I love the different part of the stomach too! This is again, a dish I still miss after coming back from my trip. I wonder if I can also find this dish in other parts of China. I think I had it a few times before the end of my Beijing trip, once at a different store too!

To wash it all down, I got this cold Oolong Tea from a sundry shop opposite our hotel. It comes with zero sugar, and the fragrant of the tea is so wonderful! I tried to look for the same time at the China Supermarkets in Singapore, but have yet to find it. Love it. So many things I miss from Beijing! Maybe I'll go back again one day when I'm older!
