Beijing 2024 - Summer Palace (颐和园) Highest Temple

Ta-dah! The view that greeted us when we reached the very top! A locked gate! Ha! So much for those stairs! I felt slightly cheated. Maybe beyond those gates are monastery? Or maybe a royal tomb just like what I saw at Hue in Vietnam when I visited their royal mausoleum.

Here is a close up look for the gate.

There is a beautiful thousand hand Goddess of Mercy at the temple just below the top though.

And it looked ancient and solemn. I guess not many people made it all the way up to pray to her. And since we were there, we did spend some time lingering around the temple. We actually sat there to finish up our remaining pancakes! lol. Again, since it was so hard to get there, the crowd was a lot thinner here, so it was a good place to sit down and much on pancakes and enjoyed the view.

Husband with his pancake. Nom Nom Nom. We ate from the same store at least 3 times! I love the hot soya milk the lady sold too. They serve it like in those hot coffee paper cups. I think that should be a thing, instead of Starbucks in your hand. After all, hot soya milk is so much more healthier than Starbucks!
