Taiping Road Trip 2024 - Taiping Lake

Beautiful Taiping Lake! Looks so serene and calming. Even though the photos here looked nice, the water level at some of the places were hardly ideal. It was the dry season in Malaysia. Few weeks after we came here, the water of the lake got even lower and worst! So I stopped complaining, cause at least when we visit, it was still pretty decent looking!

It was such a green park, with lovely mountain views. And best of all, it was weekday afternoon, so there were hardly anyone around. That, is the best thing about traveling during non-peak period! So relaxing that we spend quite some time just chilling around here

It was a pity the lotus flowers were not in bloom. I guess they mainly bloom in spring time? I couldn't see any nice ones in Japan during autumn period either. Was it just the season? Or a turned of events? Lol.

Here are some calming videos of the glittering view of the water :)

We saw quite a few wild birds here too.

Care for a video of them? I realised that my post popular videos from my YouTube page are usually of animals. Maybe kids love them? I don't take videos often as they take up too much space and battery life of my mobile phone. But I have been gradually changing that. Taking a few seconds of video of my surrounding, or something interesting and just dumping them on YouTube has become a side habit of my photography hobby :)  I guess cause in some cases, video can show and capture a moment better than a photo could, mainly things where you need to capture movements.

So animals, fishes, water, kite flying in the wind, those kind of things are better on video. These days, I also do surrounding video shot, to capture the atmosphere of the place.... Maybe one day I'll try my hands on video editing? Just last week, my 11 year old LeoByte friend showed me how to do illusions using a video and an app! Fascinating!

As we were making our way back to the car, I saw the above sign. I've never seen such a sign in Penang before in my life. I wonder why there is one here. Do many people come here for some hanky panky activities? In case you don't read Malay, the sign translate to "Khalwat, a disrespectful activity...." or something like that. Khalwat refers to being closed with the opposite sex whom you are not married to! Hahahaha. So I guess no dating at Taiping Lake then? And does this applies to non-Muslims too?

Me and me cousins. When we are old-er, we would probably look back at these photos and recall fondly of the trip we had when we were 'middle-aged'! Lol. I am 47 years old this year, and my Kak Laz is 54.

Driving home view the 2nd bridge back to our beautiful Penang Island!

It's always lovely to see the view of the island. It's just so magnificent. A friend asked me recently if I get excited when I get closed to Penang. I replied "Everytime!"  :)
