Chitose Airport Hello Kitty

So before we left Chitose Airport and head to Sapporo, of course we have to visit the Hello Kitty Happy Land.! And like the Doraemon Skypark, this is also full or merchandised for sale, and a themed restaurant. And they also have some play area for kids. So above is one of them where you can take photo of Hello Kitty Air Line! Well we all know that I don't need that, cause I've actually travelled on the Eva Hello Kitty Flight before! Woohoo!

After a while shopping in Japan, you will soon realise that everything is limited edition, or only sold at a particular location. It is a hype, and the thing is, it is kinda true! I got a limited Hello Kitty Office Lady Toy during my trip, and it is purple to make the famous lavender of Hokkaido. Never did found it sound anywhere else! Will write more about that in one of these post! Probably when we reach Jozankai where I got it, or when we reach the shopping and souvenir post.

Lastly, above are some sample menu of what is available in the Hello Kitty Cafe at the airport. Again, expensive. We have Hello Kitty Orchid Restaurant in Singapore Airport, and it was way classier than this! So I wasn't too bothered about it, except to take some photos to remember it by! And OMG, 2 days in Hokkaido, and we are still back in the airport! Time to take the train to Sapporo and do some actual holidaying! Stay tune!

Chitose Airport Doraemon Wall

Next stop is the Doraemon wall area! It was called the skylark, but really, it was just a space designated for some Doraemon merchandise and a small cafe next to it. There was some kids activity area, but I can't quite remember much of it 

This is the wall up closed. I remember I got some nice posters from around here, and took it home to make nice souvenirs which now hangs in my toilet!

And as mentioned, there was a cafe nearby which you can buy Doraemon themed snacks. So above is Taiyaki, a kinda pancake that you usually see Doraemon eat with red bean filling. It look so cute! But I didn't get any cause well, it was kinda expensive.

Needless to say, we didn't go into the themed cafe either. My goal was just to see what it was like, and maybe take some photos of it, but I was too cheap to actually go in and try it. It was just a hype, right?

So I left with this souvenir shot of me and this adorable Doraemon on the wall! It looked so cute!

Chitose Airport Royce Chocolate World

Ok, first stop - Royce Chocolate World! A long long time ago, a colleague bought me Royce dark chocolate cube with alcohol. The moment it touches my mouth, I have been in loved with it ever since. It cost SGD14 per box in Singapore, but you can get it for SGD7 in Japan. I had many a box while doing my post grad cause chocolate helps me destress. So I needed to pay homage to the mecca of my saviour, Royce! And as you can see above, it was a huge space dedicated to just Royce chocolate and it's history. There is a museum there on everything about Royce! From the tools they use, to their first packaging etc. 

Needless to say, chocolates are for sale here as well! They have a few shops connected to each other, and you can just browse yourself silly on the range of products you can buy from here. Sadly, no tasting allowed.

There is even a Royce Bakery nearby, and the smell of it was just heavenly. My money goes here cause I just couldn't resist it. Look at the bread above! The bar of pure chocolate in the bun is just too hilarious yet beautiful at the same time. 

There is also a glass display area where you can look in to see how chocolate products are made. They call it the Chocolate Kitchen. Here you can see what is automated, and what is hand handled. 

They show you how the end product is made, and you can actually buy these from the store nearby.

Like I mentioned, there were displays of tools used for chocolate making and all the beautiful packaging of chocolate that was used in Royce product.

Happy April Fool's Day! We interrupt our Hokkaido trip blogging for our monthly Schedule Book update! I am happy to report that our daily blog goal has been achieved so far! And this blog is getting more and more articles out, and even more trips lined up this year! So much to look forward to! So here are the highlights of March! Cordy is happy to be alive!

The main highlight is my very short 3 days 2 nights trip to Bangkok for my Dearest and my excolleague. And we met up with 2 other wonderful ladies in Bangkok and off we went on a road trip! Above is probably my favourite photo of the trip, which I just came back from yesterday evening. It's taken with everyone inside, taking a public bus to Chang Chui. Nothing says "Happy!" like a road trip can! I will post more on the Bangkok trip eventually, maybe after my Hokkaido trip which will probably drag till May. Stay tune for that!

The other interesting thing that happened was, in the hotel we were staying at in Bangkok, I took this photo of the hotel cafe above. And right above it is the same wordings in Chinese which I took exactly 11 months back in Taipei. Isn't that just awesome? I just wanted to leave it here cause it's just mind blowing for me. You can read about Taipei's experience here.

And as we cruise into April, what do I have planned for myself? Well, I'm thinking of getting back in shape, and also getting back on track on going vegetarian/vegan. Maybe not 100%, but I'm currently reading a 30days challenge vegan diet book, so maybe I'll give it a try. Or at least, I think I am over my depression, and I want to live a healthier and happier life now. The short trip to Bangkok was good for me. I feel really energised and ready to go! Need energy to get me to at least May, which is when my next trip would be, a mysterious trip to South Korea! Woohoo! Happy April everyone! Looking forward to it!

Chitose Morning Breakfast

Above is the view that greeted us the next morning from our Chitose Hotel. Behind the hotel are some residential houses, and dividing it are just piles and piles of snow. Initially I had plans for us to walk to a nearby park, or to even explore the town a bit, but the snow was just too thick and too cold to wonder outside. So we decided to have a slow breakfast at the cafe instead.

The night before we had actually wondered around exploring the hotel, and the cafe was open with the sign above. It reads: Free tea and other services. So basically from 9pm to midnight, the cafe is DIY. You can help yourself to snacks there in case you are hungry. How thoughtful! Midnight snacks! They also have a DIY coffee service at the lobby. 

So in the cafe at night, if you are hungry, you can eat rice with flavouring, and tea. I think milk is also available. 

And the next morning, breakfast buffet is service. And they have this tray thing which you can fill it up with all the small dishes you want. So above you can see a bowl of porridge with mushroom in it, onsen eggs, as well as other small dishes. I think above is my husband's serving. 

This one looks more like mine, scramble eggs, salmon, tofu, lots of Japanese rice and curry sauce. I also have seaweed cause I love seaweed with soya sauce eaten with just plain rice. A monk taught me how to eat it like that during my stay in Koyasan.
