Kyushu 2023 - Kumamoto Hotel Breakfast

Super Lohas hotel stay came with breakfast provided. So next morning, we made ourselves downstairs to have a nice breakfast. Usually I planned all the cheap hotels in the front of my trips, and the better more expensive ones at the end of the trip to reward myself. The hotel breakfast area has local eating and western seatings. But since there was only the 2 of us, we took the western table seats. But wouldn't it be nice to sit here at the floor seat, looking out the window as we have our breakfast? So dreamy!

A very local breakfast, natto and raw egg on warm rice! Got to have it when you are in Japan! Besides, natto is full of collagen, so it's good for your skin (among other things). It's super food at the Super Lohas!

There were also other types of food on offer, and we really enjoyed the breakfast. I always take hotel breakfast as a luxury in life. And although I can cook Japanese curry at home and won't order it in a restaurant, if it's available in a buffet breakfast, I'll eat it. Cause it's such a comforting food. Japanese curry has fuelled my first Japan backpacking trip when I first started working and went backpacking with my colleagues around Japan. Back then, all I could afford was Japanese curry at 500yen a meal! Lol. Trust me, we ate a lot of curry rice!

Me enjoying my breakfast :)

We initially planned to take a bus to Miyazaki Gorge, but since it was still a rainy day, we changed our plans. We decided to walk to the caste instead and spend the morning there. I usually dread visiting another Japanese castle, but every time I dragged myself there, I always come out feeling glad I went. Cause every one is unique, even though you have this perception that it's just another castle!

Walking pass, we saw some interesting sights.

And this was the first time I saw Kato Kiyomasa, the once ruler of Kumamoto. I didn't paid much interest in him at this point. But later on in later post, I grew to really like this character. And we also met once again in Nagoya Castle, cause apparently he was originally from Nagoya, Aichi.

The path towards the castle. The moat and castle walls started to seems familiar from here onwards.

And before we go into the castle blogging, I just wanted to leave some beautiful photos of Kumamoto City I took from the castle. I never knew it was such a beautiful city! The view just took my breath away :)  I especially love the clouds hanging around the mid mountain region in the early morning, and slowly disappeared as the sun started to shine thru. Magical!

And there is always Kumamon everywhere to remind you of where you are :P
Welcome to Kumamoto! What a great way to start our adventure here!
