Set Dinner For Less Then S$10

You know how you step into a restaurant on any other day, order a set meal for two, and end up almost S$30-S$50 lighter in the pocket? Out of which around $5 - $7 is paid for food you did not consume? (eg Service Tax and GST). Bummer.

Well why not cook a meal at home instead? Dinner for two will cost you less then S$10, and takes less then one hour to prepare (provided you have all the ingredience at home already)

For starters, a light Caesar Salad (lettuce, cherry tomatoes, onions, hard boiled eggs, Caesar Salad and Parmesan Cheese). Ingredient cost - S$2.20

Main course of Portebella Mushroom Scallops Spagetti (the obvious, with some garlic, olive oil and salt to taste). Ingredient cost - S$5.00

And wash it down with a bowl of soup (Campbell Mushroom Seafood Soup). Ingredient Cost - S$1.80.

Total Cost S$10 (add in sauces etc)

And yes, I am damn 'kiam'(stingy) to calculate my meal cost like that, but think of all the savings you get! Plus you get a better nutricious meal too!

And just to share, here a great site for 'kiam' people like me -> The Dollar Stretcher If you know a better site, or a site more in Asian context, do let me know!

Tomorrow I'll be posting 3 more meal time entry: breakfast, lunch and dinner :)

  2. Campbell soup is quite cheap as compared to other brands of soup already! My fave soups are from Mark And Spencer's Eat Well range. When on offer, they are sold at S$3 per can. Cooking soup at home is a lot cheaper then say buying them from Soup Spoon which will cost you around S$4 - $6 per bowl! Cordy is poor!
