Japan Trip Itinerary

Will be away the next 11 days fulfilling a promise to my father to bring him to Tokyo Disneyland! (on why a 74-year-old old man wishes to visit Disneyland is a another story....). But it is a great trip to make on Wesak Week as we'll be visiting so many temples that just counting them is making my head spin!

So here is the start of my documentation of our trip, as a record for me, and also as a reference to others who wishes to make a similar trip. The first entry of a trip always starts with the itinerary. I will continue once I return or when the photos are ready. (Or sooner if WIFI permits).

8/May Friday
Leaving Sg via Northwest Airlines. Reaching Tokyo 2pm. Check in Sakura Hotel Hatagaya, and proceed to arrange all train tickets before exploring Shinjuku (新宿) area.

9/May Saturday
Visit Tsukiji Fish Market (築地市場) for breakfast, and proceed to Akihabara (秋葉原). Will stop by Shibuya (渋谷) if time permits.

10/May Sunday
Visit Meiji Shrine (明治神宮) and Harajuku (原宿). Will try to drop by Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden if time permits.

11/May Monday
Visit Kamakura (鎌倉市) using Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass. For a free guided tour, email to Kamakura Welcome Guides at least 3 days in advance to arrange a guide.

12/May Tuesday
Visit Hakone (箱根町) using Hakone Freepass. Staying at a traditional ryokan Kiritani Hakoneso. Booking via Rakuten Travel.

13/May Wednesday
Stil exploring Hakone, before heading back to Tokyo and staying at Oak Hotel Ueno (上野). Booking via HostelWorld.com

14/May Thursday
Another day trip, this time to Nikko(日光市) via World Heritage Pass.

15/May Friday
Disneysea! Woohoo!

16/May Saturday
If not going out with my primary school friends, will be headed to Ueno(上野) to visit all the museums and do some shopping. Will visit The National Museum of Western Art, while my dad will probably visit Tokyo National Museum. Note: Museum Admission is free for 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, and free for those age >65.

17/May Sunday
Visit Asakusa (浅草).

18/May Monday
Last minute shopping before heading home.
