Kyushu 2023 - Kagoshima Ibusuki Station and Town and Lunch

The small Ibusuki Station. Doesn't really look as cool as the Mizumi Station.

There was a foot bath outside of the station, but due to post covid, it was closed off. You could still sit around there though.

Nearby the station, there was a themed post box too! I love such details!

Ibusuki was a super small town area, and they are famous for their Sand Bath. So we are gonna take a walk there. It was some distance, but we have the whole day here anyway. So let's go!

Walking through what is supposed to be there market shopping street. Why, and we thought Beppu shopping street was dead. Perhaps this was a seasonal area? Most shop was closed. No tourist in sight too. I felt like I was in some old Japanese drama series! There were so little traffic in town that we could see kids just running around the road after school.

Walking to search for the sand bath, we cross a lot of what looks to be empty buildings and warehouses. It was a super surreal feeling to be here. The weather on that day was supper gloomy as well, which kinda adds to the feel of it all. Now I feel like I am walking in a Murakami novel, lol.

Slowly but surely, as we headed towards the sea, the shoreline started to appear.

Finally, we saw an old wooden sign stating that this was the Ibusuki Beach Side Walking Path. But there wasn't anyone around, and the path looked so worn out! It was almost lunch time now, so we decided to change course and head one or two road inwards to look for a place to eat. Ha! No restaurant. We did see a small supermarket. But eventually we came across a small shop that sold some bento, mainly fried food.

I was hungry, and fried stuff looked good to me! So we both decided to have lunch here since there was a small corner where we could sit and eat inside the store. It was kinda like a local convenient store, but not the branded type. The lady selling us the food was very nice and very local too.

More fried stuff! Frankly, it was delicious! And not too expensive on the pocket too!

Before we reached the Sand Bath post, I thought I'll just leave this here. Me with the cool post box :)
