Kyushu 2023 - Kagoshima Sakurajima Akamizu Observatory

This was what the bus stop looked like. And some were just a sign in the middle of nowhere, lol. But the bus are very punctual, so you can time yourself when you are visiting a certain spots, or even time yourself on how many spots you can visit through out the day. Yeah, that's what I did. I like super planning my whole day, and I get giddy when there are timings involved and would try to squeeze as much as possible into the plan to get my money and my daylight worth!

So Akamizu was actually our 2nd sights, and instead of a bus, we decided to just walk there from the first stop which was just a viewing point. The weather wasn't too hot, so it was a nice walk.

Approaching the Akamizu Observatory, which translate to red water. Maybe cause some of the rocks here were reddish in colour, making the sea water around it red in colour? Or maybe the volcano erupted and spilling red lava into the sea? Hahahaha. Maybe!

Some explanation of the look out point from here.

The sights we saw while walking to Akamizu Observatory. Kinda reminds me of highways or the desert in the States I see from movies. It was a landscape that I was not familiar with.

We were on elevated ground, so at open spaces we could see out into the sea. This was a bridge we were crossing. Actually it was part of the road over some rocky area like what you saw on the previous photo....

An art sculpture at Akamizu! It was actually to mark some music festival.... But frankly between you and me, it looked freaking scary!

I mean, if you're stuck on this island at night, and the volcano is rumbling away while you're running away from it and you end up at this very spot! How would you react? Human sacrifice? Monsters? Demons? All the above?!!!! Why??? Why placed this here????

Thank goodness the view was able to calmed me down. Traumatised.
