Biz Trip HCM - Changi Terminal 4 Departure

One of the highlight of my last trip to HCM in Nov 2017 was to get to fly from the new Changi Terminal 4. It was only open for maybe less than a month, and there were so much coverage about how beautiful it is. So I was really looking forward to visiting the airport. The above is one of the highlight if the departure area, a row of peranakan shop houses. Extremely beautiful and pay homage to the heritage of Singapore.

The wait area as per normal was comfortable. The furnishing of the whole place was beautiful. Actually, I must comment on the beautiful furniture that is being selected to adore the airport and the public library. They all look so sleek, full of vibrant color, yet simplistic in nature. And there are indoor plants inside as well that make it look less concrete.

In fact, the whole building seems to support the living things inside. Periodic spray of mist can be seen coming out of the ceiling to keep the plants cool and ventilated as well as hydrated. The whole place almost look like an enchanted forest! You will also find the usual fish pond and orchid all over the place. I will spare you on those in this post. Let's move on to the highlights directly.

The beautiful shop houses of Singapore. All functional as well! With name brands selling their ware in them. Above is Heavenly Wang, a kopi shop chain in Singapore that sells the usual roti kaya toast with kopi and tea and local dishes as well. The color scheme of the shop is so classy.

There was a nostalgic feel to some of the stores. For example children rides lining the outside of the shop was a common sight in the past. They also painted pictures of yesteryears on the wall. Above was probably like a small food court selling bak kut teh and other local dishes.

Biscuit shop brings back memories of old grocery shops, with weighing machines and tiffins for decorations too! Spot on!

Don't be dazzled by just the highlight on the main floor. Do also wander upstairs where you will find the Peranakan Gallery. As a peranakan, I must say, I love this airport the post. It's just so beautifully decorated, and the whole theme of it just works. If I'm a tourist, I would like it too!

They have a full replicate of what a peranakan house looks like.

With detailed front view

Showing the kitchen area....

And the main living area etc....

and of course the beautiful nyonya kebaya, of which the Singapore Airline's air stewardess wears as a uniform. Well done Singapore! Well done Changi! Love the new airport. can't wait for the adjacent mall Jewel to open! We were asking around to view the waterfall while we were there only to be told it will only be opened in 2019. We will wait!
